Warminster town councillors are split over plans for new flats on the site of the former Warminster police station. The council's Planning Advisory Committee debated the application at a recent meeting and expressed pleasure at the willingness of the developer to listen to their concerns.

Following a previous application, the developer of the site has reduced the proposed number of flats from 24 to 21 and limited the scale of the plans. Agent for the application, Adrian Smith, told the meeting that the new plans "sit well in the context" of the surrounding properties. He added that the proposals would bring much needed rental accommodation on an otherwise redundant site.

The committee voted to offer no objection to the application with Councillors Chris Robbins, Sue Fraser and Phil Keeble supporting the plans. Councillors Stacie Allensby and James Kirkwood voted against.
